St Issey School Vision 2017

We have adopted the Church of England’s new vision for education:

Educating for Wisdom, Hope, Community and Dignity.

We aim to secure transformational outcomes for our children by combining challenging personalised academic learning with a holistic approach to personal development, rooted in Christian values.

For the Spring and Summer terms 2017 we are focussing on educating for Community because this is the school’s need. This term we have explored what community means to us, whilst forging new relationships with the local church and village. Next term we will be exploring the Christian value of community which is based on fellowship with Jesus. Through Him, Christians share the relationship that Jesus has with God. Through Him, Christians become sons and daughters of God and therefore brothers and sisters of each other. They are all members of the same family. A central element of being a family is interdependence: all are needed and valued and each person is important to the whole. The same message is found in Paul’s image of the Christian community as the body of Christ. Each member of the body shares the joys and sufferings of the others and each depends upon everyone else. The strength of our fellowship in Christ will see us through difficult times to renewal and growth.

We share Trevithick Learning Academy’s motto “Dare to be different” building on the idea of one body being made up of different parts. St Issey school may be small but it has a unique role to play in the community, the locality and the Diocese.

Our curriculum is individually tailored to the needs of each individual child and is highly differentiated to ensure that all children feel safe to leave their comfort zone, enabling them to achieve more than they thought possible. We hope our children will take this with them as they journey through life. We teach the British Values of equality, diversity, democracy and respect for all throughout the curriculum alongside our school Christian values of Wisdom, Hope, Community and Dignity.
