Our Governors

Interim Governing Body

Mrs Jo Osborne, Chair of Governors

Term of Office 31/10/2016

Pecuniary &/or Business Interests -

I came to my current role of Director for Schools for the Diocese of Truro with 15 years experience of church school headship at The Bishops' CE VA Primary School in Newquay.  This followed ten years, also in schools with an Anglican foundation, as a class teacher working in all year groups and leading most subjects.

As a governor and director on several growing and trust boards I am committed to working with schools to strengthen the positive impact they have on the lives of children, their families and the local community.

Over the last two years, I have carried out several pastoral and monitoring visits to St Issey and have therefore met the children and staff already.  I am excited to be a part of the school's future development in partnership with Trevithick Learning Academy and the Venture Multi-Academy Trust.

Married, with four boys ranging from 22 years to 9 years, I have a good deal of experience of all stages of education as a parent and a passionate interest in an education that enables all children to flourish.

'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full'.  John 10.10 is the core message of the Church of England's vision for education.

I look forward to working with children, staff, parents and the local community to ensure a vibrant and secure future for the school.

Pecuniary Interest - One child attending St Issey School

I am a parent governor here at St Issey School.  I grew up in St Issey and attended the village school over 30 years ago.  After studying, travelling and living away, I returned to Cornwall 14 years ago and have lived with my husband and son in St Issey for the last 6 year.

My background is in Media; I have an MA in Broadcast Jornalism and worked on local radio as a journalist for a number of years.  I am now involved with our family business which is a pub and restaurant in the village, where I am responsible for marketing, administration, business development and payroll.

In recent years I have been involved with the school PTA, helping with fundraising, event planning and execution.  I now look forward to rising to the challenge of being an effective school Governor and working closely with parents, staff and children to ensure that St Issey School's future is bright.

Mr. Simon Wheten

Term of Office 12/12/2016 - 11/12/2020

Pecuniary Interests - One child attending St Issey School

I have a Celtic affinity with the Cornish as I was born in Wales in 1958.  I have an entrepreneurial background, setting up vastly different types of businesses.  I am retired from business life through disability but my brain is still fully functional and I enjoy the challenging circumstances of business.

As a committed Christian, I am a member of a fresh expressions Church locally.  I enjoy sharing my faith with others.  My faith is a non-compromising gospel based faith but I respect other people's faiths and beliefs.

One of my passions is gardening and to see the St Issey in Bloom Village group being so involved with the school is very exciting.

Mrs. Jane Wheten

Term of Office 01/12/2016 - 30/11/2020

Pecuniary Interests - One child attending St Issey School

I was born in 1964 and went to schools and college in Surrey.  I worked in Central London for many years in the health care public relations industry which included clients in agriculture, veterinary and human health care.

I was a Church Warden at the local church in Surrey and have always felt that my spiritual gifting is prayer and caring for people.  I love attending our Surf Church in Polzeath, a "fresh expression" Church of Methodism.

Having four children, three step-children and four grandchildren, I feel I am able to challenge the provision and secure the best for the pupils at St Issey School.  My youngest daughter started at St Issey School in 2015.

My husband Simon and I are excited at being Governors at the start of a new chapter in the school's life.
